INTEGRATED PROJECT
Tasked with designing a capsule collection, the Integrated Project was an investigation into the threeASFOUR brand with the goal of of remaining true to both the brand’s DNA and personal inspirations. The outcome was a fully realized garment that explored both architectural forms and the unique patternmaking approach of the brand.
Concept Statement
Inspired by minimalistic architectural photography, my goal was to create looks that explore the juxtaposition presented by structured forms that result in a sense of motion and fluidity. Staying true to the geometrical inspirations of threeASFOUR, I want to explore the relationship between the human form and created geometry, both by disrupting the human form and using it as a foundation. With disrupting the form, my goal is to obscure or mask parts of the body. Using the body as a foundation, my goal is to create moments of fluidity and curvilinear geometry that parallel moments of abstract architecture. In both themes, the idea of structure is present, whether it is through adding form or using the body as an anchor. I will create a foundation from the body with an undergarment made of black faux leather. I will then introduce form with wired structures that I will overlay with a white organdy. The choice of fabrics and how they overlay will help accentuate movement and line through highlighting and obscuring certain areas of the body. Laser cut slits parallel to the wire will compliment this idea. Overall, my focus on geometry helps tie my inspirations and visions to the brand while a gender-neutral presentation helps me further realize threeASFOUR’s themes of consciousness and cultural coexistence.
